Running is finally getting its time in the spotlight

There are many reasons why I believe this is, but I truly think it's because it recaptures that raw emotional winning feeling most of us got growing up playing sport

And now as adults, we only witness it through professional athletes on TV, whilst in our personal lives weeks turn into months and months turn into years

And all we've accomplished is the collection of a salary

Running is a means to take pride in accomplishment, clocking that PB, finishing that race, after a dedicated period preceded it.

But if you've landed on this page, you probably already know that.

The problem is running can become very grey & messy if you allow it

Injuries and null improvement are what we dread as wasted time

My intention is to serve as many ambitious runners as possible, new or old, to ensure they achieve what they set out to and attain that magical proud feeling you get as you cross the finish line in realization of what you've accomplished.

My personal journey

My name is Dylan Moxon
I've been the coach at Valiturus for the past 4 years!

I f*cking love having a goal and leveling up physically in pursuit of that goal. The discipline, the sacrifice, the pure suffering. I love coaching, physiology, psychology, relationships. No two people are the same, working with individuals to discover how we most optimally make inroads is the most intriguing task to solve.

My sporting & health journey has many dedicated seasons. From about ages 10-14 I was set of playing for the blackcaps and that shifted throughout my final schooling years to a focus on football, where I played 1st XI HS football and in the top age group leagues in Auckland.

However, my real ability was in distance running, I had always won school and regional cross-country & athletics without any regimented training. So, after I finished high school, I doubled down HARD on running (maybe too hard!).

From 18-23 that was my life, pursuing being the best runner I could be. Unfortunately, mainly due to injury I faded out of serious competing. I also realized I wasn't going to the Olympics anytime soon, and I needed a more sustainable path.

It took about 2 years for me to wholeheartedly relinquish my running desires, I was still clinging on to the hope of one day returning to the track arena and running faster than before.

I transitioned into a different person with different desires, I wanted to embody a more well-rounded version of fitness. I wanted to still be aerobically fit, but I also wanted to be stronger, have more muscle mass and be proud of my physique. I was extremely skinny as a runner!

So, over the past couple years, my focus has been exactly that, optimizing for myself my ideal balance of cardiovascular fitness, strength, muscle mass and physique. Refining the training frequency of resistance trainings versus running training and maximizing bang for buck within each session.

That's my journey, but my true selfish desire is navigating individuals into physically becoming the person they want to be.

What is the mission of Valiturus

The 2 intentions of Valiturus are:

1) Assist individuals in attaining their desired physical prowess, one in which they can be proud of

2) Build community, connection & relationships - these feats cannot be achieved alone

Valiturus started in Nov 2020, where we had 2 clients, the OGs Lachy & Trent. Since then, the individuals that have come across Valiturus have gone from strength to strength. We have worked with 30+ individuals in helping them attain their physical goals. Every athletes goal has been unique, few have wanted to oscillate between dialing in for endurance races and gaining muscle, others have wanted to solely focus becoming the best runner they could be. We have also worked with athletes across football, rugby, BJJ, rowing, who are endeavoring to level up their physical capacities to drive performance in their sport.
